This tropical rain forest is sized 795 sq km and endowed with appealing diversity of wild animals. Most importantly the destination has the biggest number of chimpanzees in Uganda and Africa as a whole thus it is known as the ‘primate’s capital of the world’.
Kibale forest is rich with primates it has 13 primate species among which you will find: red colobus monkey, black and white colobus monkey, grey checkered mangabey, rare l’hoest monkey, red tailed monkey, bush babies and pottos.In this tropical rainforest you will also get to sight a lot of bird species kibale forest habours about 300bird species among which are “yellow rumped tinker bird, little greenbul, yellow spotted nicator, green breasted pitta, the African pitta, the crowned eagle plus the black bee eater among others. There are also mammal species in this very same green destination the likes of buffalos warthogs, bush pigs, elephants, duikers and golden cats. Sighting of colorful variety of butterfly species is also possible since there are around 250 butterfly species in the forest.
How to access the Park.
The northern route is said to be shorter so from Kampala city the park is situated in the western part of Uganda mainly south east of fort portal town. You will take 300km on a tarmac road to fort portal town plus more 36km on a murram road to kanyanchu side of the park. You will then be able to access the Sebitoli camp.
There are various activities that could be engaged in while in kibale forest national park though mainly Chimpanzee trekking and habituation is mainly done here at kanayanchu, Bird watching is also an activity worth engaging in done at bigodi sanctuary at the park boundary, Nature walks and Cultural encounters are also some of the activities that interesting and worth carrying out while in this destination.
